the service is generally great and we have been super satisfied up until..., last week we were blocked by SMSAPI's spam filter (AI?), which caused a 30 minute full outage on our side. The incident was resolved with good help from the support team, but when investigating the root cause we were told that the spamming was triggered by a completely normal message involving a very common Norwegian last name: "Sara Tunes". Apparently the word "Tunes" is suspicious according to the filter. So, first and foremost, even though we fully understand and appreciate the security reasoning behind spam filtering, its specific implementation seems gruesome and very poorly executed being that it failed to take into consideration pattern recognition (we always use templates), message context, etc. Also, this caused our whole account to be blocked, which means we don't have the ability to implement containment strategies such as using different sub-users / senders per customer segment. This seems utterly irresponsible & reckless behaviour from SMSAPI as a data sub-processor. Last but not least, we have asked for additional support and escalation and haven't heard anything back yet, reason for which we are actively benchmarking other alternatives and seriously considering moving away from SMSAPI, which would be a shame for both parties (especially for the SMS provider since we're in the middle of a scaling journey which will surely increase consumption by 10-20x within the next 6-12 months). A week ago I would have given 5 stars, but now it seems like we're facing a dealbreaker unless we get some kind of answer soon from SMSAPI.
